Medical disclaimer

Version 1.0, in effect since September 7, 2026

Oolite helps you keep track of a treatment your doctor has already prescribed. It does not advise you on that treatment, and it cannot replace the people who do.

1. If this is an emergency

Call for help, not for an app

If you think you are having a medical emergency (trouble breathing, severe or persistent abdominal pain, signs of an allergic reaction, vomiting that will not stop, thoughts of harming yourself), call your local emergency number or go to the nearest emergency department immediately. Do not wait, and do not use Oolite to report it. Nobody reads what you record in the app.

2. Oolite is not medical advice

Everything in the app and on this site is for general information and personal record-keeping. It is not medical, pharmaceutical, nutritional or psychological advice, not a diagnosis, not a prescription, and not a dosing instruction. Using Oolite does not create a doctor-patient relationship between you and us, and we are not your healthcare provider.

Always ask your prescriber or your pharmacist before you start, continue, change, delay or stop any treatment, and follow the leaflet supplied with your medicine. Never disregard professional advice, or delay seeking it, because of something you saw in Oolite.

3. Oolite is not a medical device

Oolite is a general wellness and organisation tool. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, mitigate or prevent any disease or condition, it is not certified as a medical device in any jurisdiction, and it has not been reviewed or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the European Medicines Agency or any other regulator.

It is not a monitoring or alerting system. No clinician, and no member of our team, watches your entries or is notified by them.

4. Reminders are a convenience, not a safety net

Notifications depend on your phone, its operating system, your settings, your battery, do-not-disturb modes and network conditions. Any of these can delay, duplicate or silently drop a reminder. Please do not make Oolite your only way of remembering a dose, and never take an extra dose because the app did or did not show something.

5. What the charts and exports really are

Charts, summaries, trends and exports are a presentation of the numbers and notes you entered. They are not a clinical assessment, they are not validated for clinical use, and any projection shown is an illustration of a trend, never a prediction of what will happen to you.

An export is a conversation starter for your appointment. Your doctor decides what it means, and what to do about it, using their own judgement and their own records.

6. Information published by Oolite

  • General information and references to published research are included for context. Research evolves; what is accurate today may be superseded.
  • Nothing we publish is tailored to your situation, your other medicines, your allergies or your medical history.
  • Names of medicines belong to their manufacturers. We are independent: not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any pharmaceutical company, pharmacy or healthcare provider.
  • Oolite does not sell, supply or help you obtain any medicine, and does not recommend one treatment over another.

7. Reporting a side effect

Recording a symptom in Oolite is a private note to yourself. It is not a report to a doctor, a manufacturer or a health authority. If you experience a side effect, tell your prescriber or pharmacist, and report it to the competent authority in your country. In the United States, that is the FDA MedWatch programme.

8. Responsibility

You use Oolite at your own initiative and are responsible for how you use it. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for decisions taken about a treatment or a health condition on the basis of the Service. The full terms are in section 13 of our Terms of Use, which also preserves the rights we cannot lawfully exclude.
